| To: Jr/Sr High track & Field Parents |
| As you may know, the Bomber Booster club has made a tremendous commitment to Macomb Jr/Sr High School by agreeing to build an 8-lane all-weather track where the current 6-lane cinder track exists. This will be a tremendous improvement to the facilities currently available to our Track & Field athletes and is a tremendous undertaking for the Booster Club. The estimate for an all-weather track is in excess of $300,000, which the Booster Club feels is more than possible to raise. They have received the backing of several banks in town and plan to start construction in the spring of 2001. |
| |
| The Booster Club has already approached several public officials and some businesses in town for support with positive results. We are applying for a grant that will pay for half of the all-weather surface; this will take $35,000-$50,000 off the cost of the track. Local contractors have offered to donate labor and equipment: this will save us even more money. Also a local business owner has agreed to pay for the new long jump runway and sand pits, another generous donation. |
| Even with these offers we are a long way from paying for the track. The Bomber Booster Club has started a raffle that will net over $100,000 toward our goal if all 1500 tickets are sold. the items being given away are: a 2001 Ford Focus, a 2001 Chevy S-10 pick-up, a John Deere riding lawn mower, a 61" TV, a trip for four to Disney world, two weekend get-aways, and two cash prizes. They will be given away at the last home football game of the season. |
| The Booster Club needs your help in this endeavor. there are over 120 students on the Junior and Senior High Track Teams. Of course we would gladly sell you a ticket for the raffle, but we also need people to help sell the tickets. With 120 students, that means there are over 200 parents in almost every place of business in the community and some outside the community. This would ensure that we blanket the community in our fundraising efforts. |
